Baptism Seals and Marks

Baptism works through the power of God to draw us into a relationship with our Savior. Holy Baptism protects us from evil spiritual influences in this world.Holy Baptism–Sealed by GodThe Almighty God seals his children by Holy Baptism, the Word of God, and faith. The power in baptism doesn’t come from anything we do. The power in Holy Baptism comes from God working through the water and the Word (Gal. 3:26, 27). The Holy Spirit goes into a child when he’s baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God then considers the baptized child as one of his own. In a spiritual sense, we become his property. My parents decided to have their children baptized when I was four. They took us four boys to church, and the pastor baptized us. We then attended Sunday school. My parent’s decision to take us to church shows the leading of the Holy Spirit through the power of prayer. Baptism Shields from EvilGod used Holy Baptism to seal and protect me from the forces of evil. Throughout my life, the Holy Spirit kept me away from occult influences. I never had any interest in horoscopes, ouija boards, or any form of witchcraft. I walked away from God in the late teens and through the twenties, and yet he was always with me. Jesus continued to draw me to himself even when I didn’t trust him for eternal life. Because my parents baptized me at an early age, I have a relationship with Jesus Christ today. Without the connection of Holy Baptism to draw me, I probably wouldn’t have come to the Lord. I know how I thought and felt about life. I thank God and praise him for his everlasting love, grace, and mercy. The Lord seals people through Holy Baptism. Many Christians believe it’s important to have their children baptized as quickly as they can. The power from baptism comes from God’s grace and the work of the Holy Spirit, not from our own works. Jesus commanded us to go, to teach, and to baptize all nations. The ALL in the nations include the children (Matt. 28:19).... Baptism of Adults and ChildrenThey baptized the adults in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit at the beginning of the NT covenant. In the early Church, they baptized adults because it was a new command as circumcision was a new command when it began. Because the Holy Spirit works through Holy Baptism as a pledge to God, it only works once (1 Pet. 3:21). God recognizes my baptism as a young child, and I was never baptized again. Nevertheless, the Holy Spirit lives in me, and Jesus lives in me through the Holy Spirit. The Bible revealed that they baptized everyone in the families (Acts 16:15). Not everyone in each family had accepted the Lord at the same time. Therefore, they must have baptized many people in the households who had not committed their life to Jesus Christ. This indicated that God wanted people and children baptized as a sign or seal to him. They baptized by faith and by the command of Jesus (Matt. 28:19). Because Abraham circumcised babies by faith, we also baptize our children by faith. Jesus seals us with the Holy Spirit that comes from his power working within us from Holy Baptism. Paul Baptized the Children Paul and Silas were in jail when an earthquake shook open the prison doors (Acts 16:26). After the earthquake, the jailer thought the prisoners had escaped and prepared to kill himself. Paul told the jailer not to kill himself because they had not escaped. 30And brought them out, and said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. 32And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all that were in his house. 33And he took them the same hour of the night, and washed their stripes; and was baptized, he and all his, straightway (Acts 16:30–33, KJV). Paul baptized all the members of the jailer’s family. The word all includes his children. God sealed the jailer and his whole family that night when they were baptized. The jailer committed his life to Jesus Christ, but not every family member accepted Jesus as their personal Savior that night. The Holy Spirit brings members of a family to salvation one by one. Nevertheless, Paul baptized everyone whether they believed or not. This indicates that the Lord also wants us to baptize our children. Baptism brings new life and protectionIn Acts 2:38, Peter told the people to repent and be baptized. In verse 39, he said the promise was for them and for their children also. Our Father of Love uses the power of the Holy Spirit through Holy Baptism to protect us from evil. Infant baptism is important to your children. The Holy Spirit lives in each of them and helps keep them in the family of God. Holy Baptism begins the sealing process for many people. Baptism works, together with the Word and faith, to seal us unto the Lord. Baptism gives us the Holy Spirit, which guarantees us an inheritance of redemption from spiritual death (Eph. 1:13, 14). Infant baptism helps bring us to the Lord. Nevertheless, everyone as an adult remains responsible for his or her personal salvation through Jesus Christ.
