Communion from Jesus Christ
Because he desired to share his Body

Our Savior gave us the gift of Holy Communion just before he died for you and I. As we share communion today, God restores our spiritual relationship with him.

Holy Communion is Important

Some churches consider Communion less important than other churches. Many celebrate it only a few times a year. The early Church shared the breaking of bread at least on a weekly cycle, and some fellowships shared the breaking of bread each day (Acts 20:7).

Our Savior stated that we should eat his body and drink his blood in all four Gospels. Jesus said to do this in remembrance of him. As I understand the Lord’s heart, he desires to celebrate his gift of Holy Communion more often. Jesus works deep under the surface even when people can’t feel his presence. He supernaturally uses the elements to draw our spirits into his Spirit.

I am not a theologian and don’t know all the technical names for the process. Jesus says in the Bible, this is my body; this is my blood (John 6:53–58; Mark 14:22–25). The Words of Jesus seem plain to me! For some Christians, this seems a hard teaching (John 6:60-64). Yet, nothing is too hard for the Lord God Almighty. If we believe that Jesus is risen, why not believe all of his Words?

I don’t know when the bread and the fruit of the vine is his body and his blood. However, Jesus sacrificed his body and his blood for us. He will change the elements in his timing and not ours.

Jesus Gave Himself

Some church denominations believe they have an exclusive handle on how God works in the Eucharist. Our Redeemer gave his body and shed his blood because of his love, grace, and mercy. I have attended churches that said, “You can’t share Holy Communion here because you don’t meet our rules, or you don’t belong to our church.”

Jesus weeps tears of pain over churches that do this. He gave his body and blood on the cross so that all of his children who believe in him could receive that special grace. Jesus desires that all come to him in the Lord’s Supper. We should believe that he died for our sins, and God raised him from death to life (1 Cor. 11:23–29). If a person doesn’t believe this, he should not take Holy Communion.

Men stand in God’s place and decide who may partake of Holy Communion. They do it their way and not the Lord’s way. One large church denomination says that we consider it a family celebration. Wouldn’t you let your brothers and sisters in Christ sit at your table in your home when you eat your meals (Matt. 15:22–28)?

Jesus desires that we follow his command and celebrate the Lord’s Supper. Some churches practice open communion. They invite all that believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior. As I understand the teachings of the Bible, Jesus smiles on these churches and encourages them to continue the practice.

Communion from Jesus gives excitement to our spiritual life

Communion experience gives excitement

Many churches have set Holy Communion aside to a few times a year. Nevertheless, our Savior yearns to share his broken and resurrected body with each of us more often. Our Redeemer wants all of us to seek him and come to his wedding celebration in Heaven.

Lord Jesus, we thank you for instituting Holy Communion. We thank you because you desire to share your broken body and shed blood with each of us. Thank you for your Love and grace that you abundantly give us. We rejoice because you invite us to your wedding supper in Heaven.”
